    Dear GMA:
I am an adoption Social Worker for Dept. of Social Services in MA and feel compelled to reply to the story you just aired.
    YOU MUST BE KIDDING!!!!
How could those elderly (86 and 89) grandparents POSSIBLY meet that child’s needs? Who will take him to the park? Rollerblading? Bike Riding?
That child, in my opinion, and IF HIS PARENTS’ PARENTAL RIGHTS ARE TERMINATED, should be put up for adoption. A young, permanent family could love and raise him. Also, an OPEN ADOPTION AGREEMENT, while usually with parents (not grandparents) could be worked out. This is a legal agreement to have them stay in touch–times agreed by all adults–so that he could have the best of both worlds: a younger family, (who will more likely be ALIVE when he goes to college!) AND his loving grandparents.
By the way, it is NEVER about the money! Foster parents do NOT make money on parenting kids!
Finally, please CONSIDER THE ALTERNATIVE YOU SUGGEST: the child remains with the grandparents, and in ten years (ages 96 and 99) they die!
THEN WHAT????? This boy will be a teen–AND ALL ALONE!
Wouldn’t ADOPTION and WITH AN OPEN ADOPTION AGREEMENT BE BETTER? Depending on the parents’ situation, it could ALSO include them.
Thank-you for allowing me to comment.

RE:STORY OF GRANDPARENTS COURT FIGHT TO RETAIN CUSTODY.
MY WIFE AND I ARE IN OUR 70′S AND HAVE CARED FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN FOR 8 YEARS, AGES 8 AND 10. WE ARE THE ONLY FAMILY THEY HAVE. MY SON TRIES HARD BUT CAN’T TAKE OF THEM ALONE AND THE MOTHER, AND I USE THE WORK LOOSLY, IS STILL OFF TRYING TO FIND HERSELF. THEY ARE LOVED AND EVERY MORNING THE ONE WHO SAYS “I LIVE YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE”FIRST – WINS.

MY SON CANNOT KEEP UP WITH MY SCHEDULE WITH THEM AND THEY REALLY KEEP ME A LOT YOUNGER THAT I AM OUR GRANDSON HAS SPENT EVERY BIRTHDAY OF HIS LIFE IN OUR HOUSE. THE IDEA OF ANY JUDGE TAKING THEIR GRANDSON AWAY IS CRIMINAL AND SHOULD NOT EVEN BE ADDRESSED BY SOME COURT APPOINTED LAWYER WHO PROBABLY HAS NO CHILDREN WHO THINKS HE KNOWS WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD. THE BEST INTEREST OF EVERYONE WOULD BE TO KEEP THE CHILD WITH HIS FAMILY. I KNOW THAT THEY MUST FEEL LIKE WE DO IN THAT TAKING CARE OF A GRANDCHILD IS NOT A CHORE– IT IS A PLEASURE. AS BOTH MY WIFE AND I SAY “THE ONLY WAY ANYONE WILL EVER TAKE THEM FROM US IS TO PRY THEM LOOSE FROM OUR DEAD COLD HANDS” WE STRONGLY SUPPORT THOSE GRANDPARENTS AND CONDEMN ANY SAYING ANYONE IS TOO OLD TO TAKE CARE OF SOMEONE THEY LOVE.

Brian Ross has investigated so many wrong doings in the US. Has he ever done an investigation into Publishers Clearing House? Have you ever had any winners on your shows? I’ve never seen any I and watch your show every day. I have spent hundreds trying to win the $10,000,000 and finally quit, as my husband had been strongly suggesting for quite some time.

Is this the biggest scam, there is? I would love to know.

This email is for Robin Roberts. Robin, I heard your news this morning, 7/31/07 and I want you to know that I think you are one of the bravest people that I have come to know from Good Morning America (Not to say that Diane isn’t and Charley was). I myself in 2004 was diagnosed with Lung and Brain Cancer. I AM A SURVIVOR and I know that you are too! I will pray and think about you each and everyday and with God’s support and Prayer, you will have no problems.

Stay strong and with all the support that I know you have, you will see yourself through this!!!!

A sign of rounding up your support team and reaching out to your” Good morning America” family and the nation that respect you and love you. Your genineness becomes you. You are truely a survivor.

    Dear Robin,

I am sorry to learn about your cancer. I was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2006 both breasts. I had surgery, chemo-UGH and radiation and now almost good as new. You will find the strength you need from friends, family and mostly your faith. Please keep me posted on your progress and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I will continue to watch GMA as I know they will post your progress.

God bless you and be with you. You will survive and be stronger after this ordeal. You are such a nice person and I know with handle this with grace and dignity. Remember, sometimes it is okay to scream!!!

    Big hugs,
    Ann Williams

I was surprised by some of the lyrics of 2 songs that John Legend sang on Friday morning during his concert. They hardly seemed appropriate for the mixed audience in the park and at home. Have you heard from others?

Dear Robin: I have never written a letter to anyone outside my own friends and family, However on the morning you told us of your cancer all I could do was cry and pray with you. I ask God to please ansewer all your prayers and provide you with what ever you need to over this little set back. I say set back because I know GOD is still working miracles they happen everyday. At the young age of 50 something I had to stop working and start getting disabilty. But now that I don’t work I feel a little better I don’t have to do anything but take care of me. I understand about getting back to work that’s where your support is. Please take care and take it slow your other family cares about you too! Do what the Doctors say and you will come out the victor. Oh yeah don’t worry about your hair either we have wig shoppes everywhere. No one has to know!!! Remember you have a friend in Jesus and in me.. Your New friend and fan.

    Hi,
I’m Gloria and live in OK where my hubby retired from the Air Force. My mom called to tell me you had done a special about the SSD system.
So sorry I missed it! Let me tell you how they are “screwing me”
I first applied for SSD when I was diagnosed with severe degenerative disc disease. I went to five doctors, two chiropractors, had the steroid shots, but nothing takes this pain away. I was given info about a Bionic implant that is usally given to folks after a failed surgery.
I had that put in…was lucky my insurance paid the 72k.
I had a discogram, mri’s, and cat scans done. The discogram produced exteme pain in the l4,l5, and s1 joints. Having this test done was worse than having natural childbirth!
Anyway, even though my two main doctors, and the state doctor she sent me to have said future surgery would not to be any good, they both said that I cannot work, as I can’t stand or sit after about an hour. Also, she sent me to two psyc consults. The Gac was between 50and 55. One of these doctors said, and I quote” She came in dressed.” Should I have used my birthday suit????
I had my hearing with a judge, who I was told by my attorney, and a member of Congress Cole’s office that this judge is not known for making “smart” decisions. They also said she gets mre remands than other judges.
My appeal was approved, so I had another court date for 6/30/2007. Saw the same judge, who brought her into her chambers an hour and a half late. Noon and lunch for the staff was at 12. The first thing she asked me was, is everything you said two years ago true? I said yes. She commented; well good. We won’t have to that again. She got a state doctor on the phone, who had never seen me, and his consensus was the discogram is supposed to cause pain, so that is not objective proof.
Well, the only time I had extreme with this, was when he hit the above mentioned vertabra. This state doctor, and the judge in her decision basically said that I was “faking” this to get narcotics. My God, I have never even been one to drink. I have only one kidney. Would anyone take these drugs if they didn’t need to?
This judge took over one year to get her decision of “no” to us. Losing my job was, and did, cripple us financially.
Two years ago my husband ripped off his kneecap, and could not work for twelve weeks. He had no disability at his job. He got no paycheck for 15 weeks. By the Grace of God, my adult children helped us as best they could.
Something has got to be done about this system! I worked since I was 12, taking two years off to raise my babies in Germany I was a model employee! I was a restaurant manager, which in the judges denial claims that I could do as it is listed as light duty.
Things like going on the roof, and changing belts in the hoods, and air condition units. Physically putting away truck deliveries, where a box of french fries is 50 pounds. Not to mention, you are on your feet for at least 12 hours per day. You don’t even get a break.
Going to the bank, and getting 1500.00 in change? I had to practically drag money bags into the store.
Thank you for airing your show. If you have any ideas on how I can get through this process, I would be so grateful.
Oh yes, we were forced to file bankruptcy yesterday. My house is literally falling apart around us. We have holes, mold, and water leaks in each ceiling. The wood on the outside is rotten, We’re just a mess, and all this could have been dealt with so much better.
    Blessings to you all!

Oh yes, I forgot to mention. She wouldn’t let my attorney hardly speak at all. He asked if he could make a closing argument and she denied that saying, that they were short employees, and to hurry it up.
That’s justice? Dang I almost think we would have been better off retiring over in Germany where we lived for ten years. At least in Germany, the government treats their citizen very decently.

I have been hearing and reading some very disturbing news lateley. Some group called The New World Order is claiming that beheading is slowly becoming the new form of capital punishment. Also FEMA has got like 500,000 caskets stacked up for some reason. That I can conceive they are FEMA. These guilletine stories are really scary though. Can you help clarify this for me?
