This note is for Mellody Hobson with regards to todays article on health care costs…I was unable to establish an account on her blog for some reason..
    Dear Mellody,
Being a Marketing Professional for a nationally recognized hospital I could not leave the house this morning without some quick thoughts………..
While you mentioned on this mornings newscast to ’seek out’ Mom/Pop Drug Stores and Off Site Diagnostic Centers to save money on health care costs, please note the following:
An old mentor of mine once stated. “you get what you pay for and sometimes you don’t even get that” so…..
viewers should remember that diagnostic lab or imaging tests performed at off-site or non-hospital run centers are not always held to the same quality parameters as are hospitals providing the same services. Typically for imaging centers, costs may be less and not always.. but somewhere there is a reason for it…Second hand, used equipment is often found in these centers as are less qualified technologists. Image quality is what radiologists diagnose problems from – and two things provide that information..1. that state of the art calibrated equipment is used and, 2. the best technologists who operate that equipment are available!. Hospitals tend to make certain these are at their optimum due to the many agency guidelines and quality parameters they are held to. They also serve an entire ‘patient community’ in many areas and want to assure these people they are obtaining the best diagnosis possible in a safe and qualified setting, not some off-site imaging center located in a shopping mall or ‘professional building’ where, oh by the way, if a problem presents itself during an exam, patients have to be transported to an emergency room placing them at great risk, where if the exams are performed in a hospital or hospital off- site setting, they can rest assured they are seconds away from proper medical intervention and have the security in knowing they are receiving the best possible exam with the best possible equipment and staff.
I guess in summary what I am saying is…”Buyer Beware” !!

Please tell Robin that my prayers are with her and her family. I miss her on the show and hope that she will be back soon with a good health report. I love your show. You are all a wonderful team that shows love, care, compassion, humor, comeraderie and interesting tidbits of information.

    Blessings to you all,

    Libby Moscardini

I was very interested in your item on the children’s song, Puff The Magic Dragon, which you stated had never been put into book form.
I have a book, by the same name, by Romeo Muller, based on the song by Peter Yarrow and Leonard Lipton, published by AVON Books and copyrighted in 1979. It contains the words to the song Puff the Magic Dragon, (but not the music) as well as the Boat Song and Weave Me the Sunshine (both words and music by Peter Yarrow.) This book is based on a TV Special aired at about that time. Thank you

I don’t know if this is the right place to find this, but I am trying to find the segment that aired earlier this summer about a husband writing in to get his wife a beauty makeover because she had no time for herself what with all their kids. TODAY did a makeover and then sent them somewhere in NY while they were in town. How can I see the after makeover shots again?

what a wonderful segment on ALS on the Friday August 10 program. It is good to get information out there and to let people know that there are caring folks around the world.
We would love to have more information about the family pictured to pass on to a family near by that is dealing with the same affliction.
thank you. I hope this is the right place to ask for this information.

i just wanted to tell Robin that she is in my thoughts I too found a lump in June I am the picture of health and it turned out to be breast cancer. i just had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. even though it was only in my left breast i dont want to ever have to go thru this again. i am also waiting for my pathology reports to come back . in one way cancer has been a blessing because it has shown me how many people really love me and how good human nature still is and also how powerful prayer and positive thinking can be. it sort of was like God telling me that maybe i had gotten too big for my britches and was forgetting what was important in life. i will continue to pray for Robin and she is going to be fine.

I have been thinking about and praying for Robin to return to the show in good health. I met her years ago at an American Women in Radio and Television conference in the 90’s while she was with ESPN. I think she is one of the smartest, classiest, articulate women in TV news. She has a genuine good heart which comes through from her daily work on air. This is why she is so credible and successful with both men and women viewers.
Please send her my best wishes for her good health and return. Thank you

I seem to have a hard time getting recipes to pop up. I put in “burger”, Burger contest, etc. Don’t know the exact day but thought a list of recipes in recent days would appear.

    Thanks
