Have you seen the show? I watched it for two years, but I stopped watching it last year b/c I could not stand Kate. Her brother and sister in law used to be on the show, I don't know what happened but I think it may have something to do with money, I'm not quite sure. During those two years that I wathed Jon, Kate +8, she was constantly putting down Jon, correcting his grammar during the interview, bossing him around. Poor Jon. He may be immatured, and recently made bad decisions but he took a lot from her. I'm glad that he finally found the way to speak up. You put him on the defensive mode. I am 50 years old, currently finishing my B.S. in Exercise Physiology and JUST submitted my application to a masters program for Physcian Assistant. I started this degree 13 years ago at a community college and had to leave off and on because my children, of which there are many (5) would need my services! I so identified with the woman you presented in your story as I am currently at the University of Massachusetts with two of my daughters as well. Actually, one just graduated in June!!!! At one point I had 4 children in college with me... The story you presented will undoubtably inspire many to go out and pursue the dream... I believe this is the point of such "entertainment".
